Global liquid fertilizer commercial research estimated the liquid fertilizers market at about USD 15.49 billion in 2025, with nitrogen as the largest revenue contributor. The number is useful background, but the more practical point for buyers is that liquid nitrogen products are no longer a niche format. They are being evaluated alongside granular nitrogen fertilizers in field crop, horticulture and precision agriculture programs.
Regulatory pressure is also part of the evaluation environment. European Union nitrogen targets include a recommended 20% reduction in chemical fertilizer use by 2030 as part of the Green Deal nutrient loss goals. That does not mean crop nutrition will stop. It means fertilizers that can be timed, positioned and measured more carefully are likely to receive more attention. Liquid UAN 32 has a near-neutral pH range of about 7.0 to 8.0 and is designed for metered liquid application. Granular ASN supplies nitrogen and sulfur in a spreadable form for base fertilization and top dressing.
At the infrastructure level, buyers should remember that liquid fertilizer systems are different from dry fertilizer systems. One North American market review notes that UAN infrastructure costs can be approximately double dry storage costs, largely because of stainless steel requirements and liquid handling equipment. A liquid nitrogen product can offer application flexibility, but the cost of storage, transfer, pumping and injection must be included in the comparison.
UAN 32 is a liquid nitrogen fertilizer with a total nitrogen content of 32%. It is a solution whose main composition is urea, ammonium nitrate and water. UAN 32 contains three nitrogen forms: urea nitrogen, ammonium nitrogen and nitrate nitrogen. That triple-nitrogen-source structure is one reason UAN 32 is often discussed for precision liquid feeding and fertigation rather than as a direct substitute for a conventional dry urea product.
The technical profile for UAN 32 used in this article describes it as a clear to slightly yellow liquid solution with a density of approximately 1.32 to 1.34 g/cm³ at 20°C, a pH of typically 7.0 to 8.0 and a freezing point of approximately -10°C. UAN 32 is used for fertigation, foliar application and soil application. It can be metered into irrigation systems or applied as a liquid side-dressing where equipment is available. Liquid fertilizer logistics commonly include IBCs, drums and tankers, so tank and transfer-system planning is central to UAN adoption.
ASN 26-0-0+13S, also referred to as ammonium sulfate nitrate, is a granular fertilizer that typically provides 26% nitrogen and 13% sulfur. Its main composition is ammonium sulfate and ammonium nitrate. The nitrogen in ASN is supplied in nitrate and ammonium forms, while the sulfur component provides an additional nutrient source. This makes ASN a dual-nitrogen granular fertilizer with a nitrogen-sulfur nutrient profile.
Granular ASN 26-0-0+13S fertilizer as referenced in the product specification unit
The typical physical profile for ASN includes white to off-white granules, a granule size of about 2 to 4 mm and moisture content no greater than 1.0%. ASN is applied as base fertilization, top dressing and for field crops. It is usually evaluated when a crop program needs both nitrogen and sulfur, particularly in cereals, oilseed crops and other field crops where sulfur is part of the nutrient recommendation.
ASN and ammonium sulfate are different products. ASN combines nitrate nitrogen and ammonium nitrogen with sulfur, while conventional ammonium sulfate primarily supplies ammonium nitrogen and sulfur. In practical terms, ASN is a granular option for situations where the crop would benefit from both nitrate and ammonium nitrogen plus sulfur.
Before discussing agronomic use, a buyer should verify that the fertilizer supplier can show relevant certificates. For the liquid and granular nitrogen product evaluated in this article, the certification baseline is clear. The product is certified to the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system standard. The certification number is 0891092R1M16Q8, issued by ZSBC, and the certification is applicable to the global market for the nitrogen fertilizer product in liquid and granular form.
For shipments to the European Union market, the product is also certified under RoHS compliance requirements. The RoHS certification number is DPWD/03/0570/2025, issued by Intercert Global Sp. z o.o. Buyers should request not only the certificate image but also the applicable standards, product models and valid period. For this product family, the applicable RoHS documentation references harmonized standards including EN 62321-4:2014+A1:2017, EN 62321-5:2014, EN 62321-7-1:2015, EN 62321-7-2:2017, EN 62321-6:2015 and EN 62321-8:2017.
