What Is Calcium Ammonium Nitrate Fertilizer?
Calcium Ammonium Nitrate (CAN) fertilizer is a nitrogen-calcium fertilizer containing nitrate nitrogen, ammoniacal nitrogen and calcium.
Risso Calcium Ammonium Nitrate is formulated as a granular fertilizer with a 15.5% total nitrogen grade and a high proportion of nitrate nitrogen. Unlike high-analysis nitrogen fertilizers that primarily focus on nitrogen, this product combines nitrogen nutrition with a substantial supply of soluble calcium.
The current Risso product specification contains:15.5% N + 26% CaO + 0.3% B
The nitrogen is predominantly present as nitrate nitrogen:- Nitrate-N: ≥14.4%
- Ammoniacal-N: 1.1%
This gives the product a predominantly nitrate-based nitrogen profile while also supplying calcium and boron.
For crop nutrition, the combination is particularly useful when the fertilizer program needs to address nitrogen supply and calcium nutrition at the same time.
